Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams Dazzle at a Screening for After the Wedding

Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams Attend a Screening for After the Wedding

In the new drama After the Wedding, Isabel (Michelle Williams) is the manager of an orphanage on the verge of bankruptcy in Kolkata, India. So she travels to New York to meet Theresa (Julianne Moore), a benefactor who could solve all her financial woes but who may be harboring ulterior motives. To reveal anything further would take away from the twists and turns the film piles on after Theresa brings Isabel to her daughter’s wedding—an invitation that sets off a chain of events that will change their lives forever.

Though it’s not a particularly cheery premise, the stars at the center of the family drama were thankfully all smiles on Tuesday night when the Cinema Society and Chopard hosted a screening for the film. Wearing a chic Givenchy dress, Moore especially had reason to celebrate as the film represents her fourth collaboration with her husband, director Bart Freundlich.

“We’ve really only ever worked together when there’s been a part for me, and when Bart started to adapt this, it was clearly was something I was really interested in,” Moore said. “We’re great partners, and we’re producing partners on this movie too, so it’s the first time we actually worked on something from the very beginning to the end together.”

As both star and producer, Moore was involved in nearly every aspect of the production, including finding the right costar who could bring the necessary emotional intensity to the material. Moore says Williams was an obvious choice, and she emailed the actor directly to offer her the role.

“I mean, when Julianne Moore sends you an email, you pay attention!” Williams said.

While the biggest thrill of After the Wedding is seeing Williams and Moore, two of the greatest living actresses, deliver unstoppable performances, they give their costar Billy Crudup just as much room to shine as Oscar, Theresa’s artist husband. The film served as a reunion for the actor and director, who’ve remained friends since Freundlich first directed Crudup in 2001’s World Traveler.

“Bart was talking about this script he was working on, and needless to say, as an actor, you’re always like, ‘Is there a part in there for Ol’ Bill?’ ” Crudup joked. “I read the script and couldn’t quite find my way into the character, but after having a conversation with Bart and then seeing the movie on which it’s based, it became clear he was trying to tell a subtle, nuanced family drama.”

After the screening the after-party kicked off at the Crown, the chic rooftop bar in Hotel 50 Bowery. The DJ kept spirits high with a pop-heavy playlist before Abby Quinn, who plays Moore’s daughter in the film, performed a brief set including covers of “Sea of Love” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane.” Backlit by a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline, Moore and Freundlich made the rounds, eager to hear everyone’s thoughts on the film.

After the Wedding was an especially personal project for Moore, who has made it her mission to bring dynamic and layered female characters to the screen. “It’s really wonderful to see these two self-actualized, self-created women in sort of a struggle for dominance,” Moore said. “You don’t see that in movies very often, especially when it’s between two women and not centered around a man!”

Of Course Donald Trump Crashed the New Jersey MAGA Wedding

Donald Trump leaving the White House for Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster New Jersey.

Well, if you’re going to hold a “Make America Great Again”-themed wedding at Donald Trump’s own Bedminster golf club, you might as well brace for a presidential wedding crasher. The flattery and spotlight proved too tempting for a battered Trump to resist this weekend, as the president dropped in on a much-publicized MAGA wedding to greet the bride and groom.

Per TMZ, the New Jersey wedding of PJ Mongelli and Nicole Marie practically rolled out a red carpet for the commander in chief to make an appearance, between numerous invitations, a scrapbook of their fan encounters and social media pages splashed with adoration for Trump. Likewise, their 2017 engagement even took place at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, where the wedding itself was also held.

Trump, visiting the club for the weekend, dropped by the reception to greet the bride and groom. The New York Post adds that he was introduced to the couple, and even put his arms around them as the crowd broke into “USA!” chants. It is unclear if he stayed any longer, accommodating Mongelli’s reported request.

The reception hall was also said to be lined with flags reading “Trump 2020.” Amazingly, this wasn’t the only Trump-themed wedding making the social-media rounds in recent days.

Sophie Turner May Have Dropped Hints About Wedding No. 2 to Joe Jonas

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner at 2019 met gala - cocktails

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ second wedding may happen very soon.

TheGame of Thrones star and the Jonas Brother had a surprise wedding in Las Vegas on May 1, following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. However, a source told ET that the newlyweds would still have a big ceremony with all their friends and family.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Turner was asked about her Vegas nuptials and may have dropped a hint about when wedding No. 2 will take place.

Showing a photo of Turner and Jonas after they had tied the knot, host Graham Norton asked if they chose Diplo to be their photographer. The DJ had taken it upon himself to share the ceremony with his millions of Instagram followers.

“We didn’t choose him to be our wedding photographer,” Turner explained, adding, “He just kind of decided to live stream it.”

When asked if they would be having a big party soon, Turner coyly responded “potentially,” with Norton thinking he revealed private information.

“Oh no, is that a secret? Not anymore,” he said. “I didn’t sign anything. It’s in France, 15th of July…I have no idea.”

Turner laughed before saying, “That was a pretty good guess!”

Earlier this month, a source told ET that “Joe and Sophie are a couple that loves to have fun and live in the moment.”

“That’s exactly what getting hitched in Vegas was,” the source shared. “The couple does plan to have a more formal wedding with their family and friends, but this ceremony was just fun. Joe and Sophie are planning to get married in Paris later this year.”

Meanwhile, during the Graham Norton appearance — which also included Jonas’ ex Taylor Swift — one thing Turner did reveal was her secret circus skill and how she can fall asleep anywhere.

“I’m incredible at sleeping,” Turner confessed. “I can do it anywhere you like, anytime.”

She also showed off her impressive aerialist moves and how flexible she is. “That’s right. Imagine what I can do when I’m warmed up,” she joked.

Eva Marcille’s Wedding Airs on Real Housewives of Atlanta: Read Her Emotional Vows

After a handful of hurtles (including an ever-growing budget), Eva Marcillefinally walked down the aisle on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlantamarrying husband Michael Sterling.

The couple, whose wedding was back in Oct. 8, 2018, were in tears as they said their “I dos” in front of 220 family and friends including their two children, Marley Rae (her 4-year-old daughter with ex Kevin McCall) and Michael, Jr., 5 months.

It was a beautiful affair that had Marcille’s RHOA castmates NeNe Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Shamari DeVoe, Tanya Sam and Marlo Hampton overcome with emotion, too.

“You could just see the joy in her face. It’s magical,” said Williams.

Perhaps the most touching moment of the ceremony was when Marcille and Sterling exchanged the vows they had written.

Sterling began. “I promise to love you unconditional, unrelenting, comforting and eternal,” he said. “I promise you not only this present love, but future love. The future love that can’t forecast the unpredictability of life but is prepared to withstand the hardships, the pains, and the struggles.”

“I vow that you will never be alone because no matter where you go, my love will always be with you,” he said. “And when god sees fit to take us from this place, I promise you that I will ask Her that she will let me be with you in this next life. Because I don’t want to imagine this life or any life without you.”

“I will be your husband, and I will love you from this breath to the last breath,” he ended.

Marcille took a second to compose herself, sniffling back tears before she began.

“Michael, you’re my safe place,” she said. “In a world that is often disappointing, you give me hope. Learning to love the biggest part of me, my daughter Marley, holding my truth and my fragility firmly in your hands, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was designed for you. Our bond is unbreakable and our love is pure.”

“I promise a forever love — not a perfect love, but a forever love,” she continued. “I look forward to enjoying my golden years with you. I love you now and forever.”

The America’s Next Top Model winner told the audience: “Growing up I was not the girl who had the idea of a fairytale wedding. But now I am just overwhelmed with emotion. To be at this place today with an amazing man? What did I do to deserve this amount of favor and blessings?”

While Marcille and Sterling were on cloud nine, NeNe was having a harder time.

The Atlanta Housewife was struggling watching Marcille and Sterling’s happy time. As has been explored in previous episodes, NeNe and her husband Gregg Leakes have been fighting over what NeNe has dubbed  Gregg’s “mean” and “nasty” attitude amid his stage 3 colon cancer battle.

Just hours before the wedding, NeNe and Gregg had an argument in which they talked about separating.

“When Eva was saying her vows, it reminded me of Gregg and I saying our vows,” NeNe told viewers. “I’ve had a wedding. I’ve been in that great, happy, loving place and I actually arrived at this wedding having an argument with my groom. And just hearing the vows made it very emotional for me.”

She explained more to Bailey.

“Right before I came here, we talked about separating,” NeNe said, adding that they discussed moving from separate rooms into separate houses. “He said he would go ahead and find a place. Last night I felt like I broke because he is so mean. I get that it’s a sickness but I can’t be talked to quite like this. It’s weird because you’re trying to help the sick person and they don’t want the help. And everybody around will say that I’m bad.”

NeNe added: “Gregg lets me take the wrap for a lot of things that he’s done. And people generally point the finger at me and he just kind of like, sits and take that wrath when he knows it’s not like that.”

As tough as it was, NeNe still found the courage to give a toast at Marcille and Sterling’s big day.

“To the bride and groom. May you live each day like it’s your first and each night as if its your last. Never go to bed angry. Stay up and fight all night,” she said. “The secret to a happy marriage remains a secret, but to me, I believe that respect and communication is the key to a happy marriage. Eva and Michael, I wish you all the best. Congratulations, we love you. Let’s toast to ‘Love wins.’ “
